Dear Students,

Bullying behavior a serioius problem in schools across the nation. Bullying behavior can take place through actions, words, and/or physical contact. Often children are unaware of how harmful the things that they are doing or saying is to others. When students experience bullying behavior it is not always easy to discuss this with someone. If you or someone that you know is experiencing bullying behavior here are some things that you can try.

1. Use “I messages” to speak up for yourself and let the other person know how you feel.
(example: “I feel sad when you call me names because it hurts my feelings. Please do not call me names anymore.”)

2. Remove yourself from the situation.

3. Stay with a friend. (Make sure that you are in an area where you are not by yourself.)

4. Tell an adult. ( You can talk to your teachers, counselors, other school staff members and/or your parents)
